Nadia Elena Comaneci
She grabbed international recognition and praise when she gave the world one of its most memorable moments in the history of sport when she scored the first ever perfect ten in asymmetric bars during the Montreal Olympic Games in 1976. In addition, Comaneci scored six more 10s perfect which made her 14 years old the youngest Olympic medallist in every category. Nadia Comaneci was able to draw international attention and help Romania establish itself on the world map. Achieving an unattainable score made this sports icon famous and brought gymnastics to the forefront of the entire world. Women's perception of athletes was also altered by her achievements. The impact she had was such that she earned her the title of Olympic toe on and release movements. These are still rated extremely difficult. Apart from the Olympics she also was the hottest athlete during the World Championships and European Championships. Her performance have made her one of the best gymnasts to ever compete. The 'Queen of Olympics was a novice at modelling and marketing sports equipment after her defection into the US.
